Mackerel is ~a specie~ of fish (nonstandard).
Mackerel is *a species* of fish (standard).
A species is a class of plants or animals whose members have the same main characteristics and are able to breed with each other. It can also be used in the plural sense:
Mackerel and Titus are *species* of fish. ✅
No one can have so much money in ~species~ now (nonstandard).
No one can have so much money in *specie* now (standard).
Specie means coin money, as distinguished from bullion or paper money.
