ONE ANOTHER or THEMSELVES?

Dorcas and her mother hugged themselves (nonstandard).
Dorcas and her mother hugged each other (standard).
“Each other” and “one another” indicate that an action is mutual among two or more people.

Other examples:
Those children are kicking themselves (nonstandard).
Those children are kicking one another (standard).
