When “more than” is used in the subject position, the noun that follows it determines the verb:
More than one is… ✅
More than two are… ✅
The rich often ~thinks~ wealth comes through one’s wisdom (nonstandard).
The rich often *think* wealth come through one’s wisdom (standard).
Adjectives used to depict a class of people (the poor, the rich, the privileged) attract plural verbs.
One of my friends ~come~ regularly (nonstandard).
One of my friends *comes* regularly (standard).
When you use “one of”, “none of”, and “each of” in the subject position of a sentence, they are followed by a plural noun/pronoun and a singular verb.
