CLOTH, CLOTHE, CLOTHES, CLOTHING

CLOTH is fabric which is made by weaving or knitting a substance such as cotton, wool, silk, or nylon. Cloth is used especially for making clothes:
She cleaned the wound with a piece of cloth.

CLOTHES are the things that people wear, such as shirts, coats, trousers, and dresses:
You have to change your clothes to come with me.

CLOTHE means to provide someone with clothes to wear:
She has five children to clothe.

CLOTHING means clothes, especially clothes of a particular type or those worn in a particular situation:
You can only take three items of clothing with you.

  • That means, cloth is a raw material for making clothes, and clothing are clothes you have all ready while clothe is the verb, the doing or action word, i.e at process of wearing it, it is clothe.
