Which is the ~quickest~– road or rail (nonstandard)?

We do not use the superlative form with “est” for two options.

Which of these three patterns is *best* (standard)?
The superlative form is used for three or more options.
Your choice is ~more better~ than this one (nonstandard).
Your choice is *better* than this one (standard).
Better is the comparative form of good so something cannot be “more better” than another. However, you can use intensifiers such as “far better”, “a lot better, “significantly better” and “much better”. It is equally ungrammatical to say “much more better”.
