APOSTROPHE
I saw my ~sister’s friend mum~ (nonstandard).
I saw my *sister’s friend’s mum* (standard).
When there is possession within possession, each noun must indicate ownership.
That book is my ~sister’s own~ (nonstandard).
That book is my *sister’s* (standard).
When a noun shows ownership with the use of apostrophe, it is ungrammatical to use “own” after the noun.
The duplex has ~it’s~ swimming pool (nonstandard).
The duplex has *its* swimming pool (standard).
When ownership is to be shown for a thing/object, the possessive word is “its”, not “it’s”.
