VERBS THAT DO NOT TAKE PREPOSITIONS

He ~advocates for~ women’s rights in his works (nonstandard).
He *advocates* women’s rights in his works (standard).
If you advocate a particular action or plan, you recommend it publicly.

I will like to ~discuss about~ some issues with you (nonstandard).
I will like to *discuss* some issues with you (standard).
If people discuss something, they talk about it, often in order to reach a decision.
However, “discussion” can attract the preposition “on”:
We had *a discussion on* the subject (standard).

I am ~requesting for~ something from him (nonstandard).
I am *requesting* something from him (standard). When “request” is used as a noun, it can take the preposition “for”:
I made *a request for* something from him (standard).
