My father said it ~to my hearing~ (nonstandard).
My father said it *in my hearing* (standard).
If someone says something in your hearing or within your hearing, you can hear what they say because they are with you or near you.
I was ~on the hot seat~ for the second time (nonstandard).
I was *in the hot seat* for the second time (standard).
When you are in the hot seat, you are in a position where you have to make important or difficult decisions, or answer difficult questions.
