OFTEN or EVERY SO OFTEN?
I sometimes make money from my business so I get new clothes ~often~ (nonstandard).
I sometimes make money from my business so I get new clothes *every so often* (standard).
“Every so often” means occasionally; from time to time.
I make money from my business daily so I get new clothes almost every week; I mean ~every so often~ (nonstandard).
I make money from my business daily so I get new clothes almost every week; I mean *often* (standard).
If something often happens, it happens many times or much of the time.
