With or Without -ing?

She listened because it was a perfect ~time~ (nonstandard).
She listened because it was such a perfect *timing* (standard).
Timing is the skill or action of judging the right moment in a situation or activity at which to do something.

We need a new ~fry~ plan (nonstandard).
We need a new *frying* pan (standard).
A frying pan is a flat metal pan with a long handle, in which you fry food.

I will be around for the ~launching~ of the book (nonstandard).
I will be around for the *launch* of the book (standard).
A launch is an event to celebrate or introduce something new.
