PRONOUNCING PAST TENSE MARKERS

When a past tense verb ends in a vowel or voiced consonant, the -d or -ed is realised as /d/
Vowed /vaud/
Called /kɔːld/
Curbed /kɜːbd/

When a past tense verb ends in a voiceless consonant sound, the -d or -ed marker is pronounced as /t/
Cursed /kɜːst/
Marked /mɑːkt/
Clapped /klapt/

When a past tense verb ends in /t/ or /d/, the past tense marker is realised as /id/
Want /wɒntid/
Land /lændid/
