APPENDICES or APPENDIXES?

Appendix has two meanings:

  1. Additional part of a book or document. When it has this meaning, the plural form is appendices.
    The books have very useful appendixes. ✖️
    The book has very useful appendices. ✔️
  2. A part of the human body. When this meaning is intended, the plural form is appendixes.
    That doctor has worked on several appendices. ✖️
    That doctor had worked on several appendixes. ✔️
