HUNG or HANGED?

Hung is the past tense of “hang” for every other sense aside to kill someone as punishment.

A heavy gold necklace hung on his neck.✔️
Party decorations hung from the ceiling. ✔️
He hung his head in shame. ✔️

Hanged should be used when hand means to kill someone as a punishment.
He was hanged to death. ✔️
