Common Errors

There was a ~match past~ on the first day in March (nonstandard).
There was a march-past on the first day in March (standard). A formal march by troops past a saluting point at a review is march-past.

I was ~opportuned~ to see him yesterday (nonstandard).
I had the opportunity to see him yesterday (standard).
I had the opportune moment to see him yesterday (standard). Opportune is an adjective (not, a verb).
