English for Today by Ganiu Abisoye Bamgbose (Dr GAB)
With “c” or “s”?
The words with c are mainly nouns and those with s are mainly verbs:
There was no access to the room (noun).✔
I can assess the room (verb). ✔
Seek your teacher’s advice on how to prepare for the exam (noun). ✔
Your teacher can advise you on how to prepare for the exam (verb). ✔
Do you need British accent as a Nigerian (noun)? ✔
Your dad may assent to the change (verb). ✔
You can assess him for advice on your studies but such access does nothing if you don’t advise yourself and realise that your good accent doesn’t get a proposal assented if it is not well written.
